Kennedy House Kennedy House Zion Blue Mountain UCC

The Kennedy House is located on Spruce Street in Reading. It is sponsored by the Greater Berks Food Bank and affiliated with Catholic Social Agency and Saint Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. The thrift shop is open everyday from 9-6 and guests are able to pick up food that has been donated by local farmers or businesses. Members of Zion’s congregation serve meals 2-3 times a year and rely solely on private donations. We are grateful for everyone’s support.

The Kennedy House’s mission is to serve the poor who suffer from the lack of basic human needs: material needs, such as food, clothing, and household necessities; psychological needs, such as motivation, self-esteem, and rehabilitation; and social needs, such as support systems and meaningful relationships. The guests of the Kennedy House aren't necessarily homeless but some are families that work 2 jobs but still don't have the means to buy clothes and food.

The fact that we live in AMERICA and we still have families that are WORKING and are still struggling to put food on the table is unacceptable. It takes a few seconds to pick up a phone and call us to volunteer. Don't volunteer only during the holidays, people need help all year around.
